| Snow falls in Vietnam- Views : 4127 |
Snow has fallen in Northern Vietnam for the first time in many years.
The snow caused a five-hour traffic jam as people drove into the mountainous provinces of Lao Cai and Ha Giang to see the wintry flurries.
The weather system responsible for the snow has also brought some unusual weather to other parts of the region.
This is normally the dry season, but torrential rain has been lashing Laos, Vietnam and southeast China. |

The idea was to develop a glass compound suitable to repair fissures in rubies. In fact it is not a new treatment as similar treatment was applied with diamond. Yehuda diamonds which were clarity enhanced by filling it with high RI glass gave similar results. The efficiency of the treatment is such that a single large fracture in an otherwise clean ruby could be made to disappear to the unaided eye exactly as filled fractures in diamond and emeralds. However it is more stable than emerald treatment where only oil is impregnated. Glass filler may be unstable at elevated temperatures and to chemical agent, so special care should be taken when repairing jewelry items set with glass filled corundum. So, when such a stone is sold a proper disclosure should be made to avoid this problem. |

| Sony Pictures leads studios with four Golden Globes film wins- Views : 3972 |
Sony Pictures Entertainment led all studios with four Golden Globe wins in film categories on Sunday night.
The studio's haul included three awards for "American Hustle," which had been nominated in seven categories. Sony Pictures, a unit of Sony Corp., led the pack with 15 nominations in movie categories.
"American Hustle" took home the awards for best motion picture, musical or comedy ; best actress in a motion picture, musical or comedy (Amy Adams); and best supporting actress in a motion picture (Jennifer Lawrence).
The David O. Russell-directed picture, co-financed by Annapurna Pictures, has grossed $119 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. |
