| PS4 Beats Xbox One For November Sales In North America- Views : 3727 |
The November NPD report on the videogame industry is out, and while we don't have specific numbers, Sony says that its PS4 beat out Microsoft's Xbox One in total sales. It's unsurprising because the PS4 came out one week earlier, giving it a little more time to bulk up those numbers for the month.
"PlayStation 4 sales in North America and worldwide have been incredibly strong since launch, culminating in PS4 being recognized as the largest console launch in history," SCEA President and CEO Jack Tretton said in a statement, via CVG. |

| Toshiba plans to invest $500m in new local plant- Views : 3873 |
Japanese electronics manufacturer, the Toshiba Corporation, will invest between US$400 million and $500 million in Indonesia to enlarge its production facility and tap into surging domestic demand for electronics.
"Toshiba wants to expand its business here with new investment," Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) chief Mahendra Siregar said on Tuesday at the Office of the Coordinating Economic Minister.
The plan was revealed after Mahendra, along with some ministers, such as Coordinating Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa, Industry Minister MS Hidayat and Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan, paid a official visit headed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to Japan. |

1. Cable TV
Cable television's heyday is over. Subscribers have been declining since 2004, and analysts say there's no end in sight. Roughly 54.8 million households currently pay for cable TV, down 3.3% from 2012 and down 17.6% from a decade prior, according to research firm IHS. Cable companies are expected to shed roughly 1.3 million subscribers in 2014.
The decline is due in part to so-called cord-cutters: consumers who are canceling cable and transitioning to lower-cost services, such as Hulu and Netflix (NFLX) , which provide much of the same programming at a fraction of the price. Using an Internet connection, consumers can stream many cable shows, news programs and sports games, as well as movies, directly to their TVs. Some channels' websites also provide viewers access to their shows. (MarketWatch recently launched a calculator - Are you ready to cut the cord? - that allows consumers to find the shows they normally watch through such lower-cost options.)
These services are mostly beneficial for people who do not mind watching shows after they've aired and are willing to part with most live programming. |
